Why Botswana?

Okay.  So many people wonder why I picked Botswana.  Most people I know are studying aboard in more “regular” places like Australia, Italy, England, etc.  So what are my motives for picking Botswana?  Well there are several reasons.  

First and Foremost, I have always wanted to go to Africa.  I first grew interested in Africa by watching shows off animal planet. (Are you surprised?  This is Kaylee we are talking about.)  You can judge me, but how can you deny a show of “growing up baby chimp or what not??  I expanded my knowledge past animal plant and fell in love with the place.  I’m not sure if you can fall in love with something that you’ve never seen but any who….  I simply decided I wanted to go there and one day I would.  That was that . Therefore, when I was looking at study abroad options, I already knew where I wanted to go. 

Second, Botswana has great wildlife and beautiful land! I love the outdoors.  I want to go somewhere that I can experience nature and be adventurous.  PLUS, I GET TO SEE ELEPHANTSSSS!  SOOO EXCITED.  Yes.  I may be slightly obsessed.  

Third, I don’t tend to do things the normal way.  I enjoy being just a bit different.  Maybe I am a “rebel without a cause.”  But It’s just who I am.   I don’t want to go somewhere that everyone else is going.  I’m looking for something to challenge me.  I want culture shock and to get out of my element!

Fourth, Did I mention elephants????? 

So here we are.  Paperwork is filled out. The plane ticket has been purchased.  I get vaccines tomorrow!  Still a few more things to do off the checklist and I am Botswana-bound!
